About Tarik Sultan: Tarik is a writer, choreographer, teacher and performer of Raqs Sharqi (theatrical Oriental dance) and Raqs Baladi (Egyptian folk dance); both of which are commonly referred to as "belly dance" in the West. He regularly performs and teaches in New York City and Jersey City. Tarik began studying Oriental dance in 1985 as a protege of renowned artist Morocco and has studied throughout North Africa and the Near East. He has taught and/or performed in Egypt, Morocco, the U.K., Japan, Australia, Argentina and Trinidad & Tobago. In the States, he has performed at Lincoln Center, The United Nations, The Museum of Natural History in addition to New York City nightclub performances at Casbah Rouge, Mehenata Horus, The Habibi Lounge, LeSouk and Feluca. Finally, Tarik is one of the foremost writers on the genre of Oriental Dance.

About The Brown Girls Club: Founded by Jeana Bowling in 2009, The Brown Girls Club or BGC is a women's social group that hosts private and public events.
